The African Telecommunications/ICT Day is celebrated annually in commemoration of the founding of the Union in December 1977. This year, the Union shall commemorate the day on 7th December, 2010 under the theme “Building Capacity of the Continent in the Information Society”.
The African Telecommunications Union (ATU) calls upon all stakeholders (Regulators, Operators and Industry) in the Region to act appropriately in creating awareness through workshops, exhibitions and through supplement in the print and electronic media on issues addressing the theme.
It is expected that Member States and other stakeholders shall file in a report to ATU on the nature of activities carried out to commemorate the day.
The message from the Secretary General/ATU will be circulated to assist in the preparations for the day.
