RASCOM MEMBERSHIP STRENGTHENED

The Federal Republic of Nigeria acceded to the RASCOM convention on the 31st January 2001. The signing ceremony took place at the Regional Headquarters of RASCOM in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire. The ceremony was attended by very high dignitaries that included His Excellency Alhaji Mohamed ARZIKA, the Minister of Communications of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The accession of Nigeria to the convention brings RASCOM's membership to forty-four African countries.

Nigeria's absence of several years in the RASCOM created a remarkable gap which having it filled now gives sigh of relief to the organization and ATU.
