World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly

WTSA-2004 in Florianapolis, Brazil on 5-14 October 2004

The World Telecommunication Standardisation Assembly (WTSA), the highest organ for the Telecommunication Standardisation Sector, convenes every four years. The upcoming Assembly in October 2004, in Brazil will lay out ITU-T's strategy for the next four years, decide on the new structure of the ITU-T Study Groups, and review the work of ITU-T since the last WTSA in 2000.

In order to build "Africa's Voice" for this important conference, it will be necessary for us to cooperate and establish structures for consultation and timely evolution of African Common Proposals.

All Member States are kindly requested to establish National Preparatory Committees for WTSA-2004 to review current Study Group reports and commence the process to determine national positions on key recommendations of the Study Groups.

A preparatory meeting of African countries for the WTSA-2004 is planned for 23-25 June 2004 in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. (more...)

A report on the activities of the Telecommunication Standardisation Advisory Group (TSAG)  has been prepared by Mr Zourmba Aboubakar of Cameroon, vice chairman of TSAG representing Africa for the period 2002-2004. (more...)

The  focal point at the General Secretariat is the standardisation research and programme coordinator, Mr. Andrew Kawamara (E-mail: a.kawamara@atu-uat.org)
